Adjustments to Seasonal Events for 2020 ~
Changes to Christmas Giving Tree Program at Our Lady Queen of Peace and Saint Margaret of Cortona!
The annual Christmas Giving Tree program has a few changes this year due to Covid-19. In past years, a Giving Tree was placed in each church. A tag was taken from the Giving Tree, and items were brought to Church. It is impossible to conduct the application process of sorting and distributing while practicing social distancing. Also, the possibility of further store and church closings in the fall and winter are an unknown. Therefore, rather than asking people to take paper tags during this time of pandemic, we are asking for donations of gift cards from Walmart, Price Chopper, Hannaford, & Target. Beginning the week of November 7-8, we will start accepting your gift cards. If you can help and you are coming to church, please do the following: *Place your gift card[s] in a white envelope. *Clearly mark that envelope Christmas Giving Tree. *Include the gift card amount so the recipient is not confused. [If possible, please include the receipt to validate the money you are gifting.] If you are coming to church, *Place your gift card along with your weekly donation in the large basket located near the main entrance of the church. If you have not yet returned to church, we ask that you consider sending your gift card to the parish office. Please mark your white envelope either Our Lady Queen of Peace or Saint Margaret. All gift cards must be received no later than the weekend of December 5-6. NOTE: Gift Cards for St Margaret [Target & Walmart preferred]
Coat Drive 2020—Just Another Change: Once a year, events like this take place as part of our broader work of addressing the needs in our community. A drive to collect coats for adults and children is one of the most popular seasonal programs. This year we ask you place your clean and gently used coat in the City Mission bin located outside the church. You may place clean and gently used coats in a medium size plastic bag, then place it in the City Mission bin. Help keep your brothers and sisters warm during this most difficult of times. If you have any questions you may call either Judy Farrell 355-3439 or Janice Falcone 355-4547.
