Special Performance:

"Groomed" – A Survivor's Story of Healing

The Hope and Healing Committee of the Diocese of Albany invites you to a powerful and moving event: the performance of "Groomed," a one-man play written and performed by Patrick Sandford, a survivor of childhood sexual abuse by his school teacher. This award-winning play has been performed internationally, including at the Vatican, and offers a rare opportunity to witness a survivor's journey from trauma to healing. Patrick’s story explores the emotional and psychological effects of abuse and the long, difficult path towards healing. "Groomed" sheds light on the devastating impact of abuse, while also offering hope and healing through its raw and honest portrayal.

This is a 45-minute play and will be followed by a Q&A session with Patrick. The performance is open to the public, there is no cost to attend, and there will be mental health professionals available for support.

Although RSVPs are not required, it would be helpful for the committee to know how many will be attending. Please email Ann Marie Carswell, Associate Director of Safe Environment, to indicate how many will attend: annmarie.carswell@rcda.org

Date:               Sunday, October 20, 2024
Time:              6:30pm
Location:        Roger Bacon Hall Auditorium,

on the campus of Siena College

515 Loudon Rd.

Loudonville, NY 12211

This performance is part of a special tour throughout the Northeast and serves as a meaningful way for us to open a conversation on the issue of abuse and healing within the Church. Due to the content, it is advised that a trusted adult accompany minors who attend.

New Initiative Launched:

Kindness is the new evangelism.   Performing random acts of kindness can be a powerful way to evangelize and make a positive impact on others. Kindness can embody the teachings of Jesus, who showed compassion and love for all people. It can also help break down barriers and open the door for conversations.  The Diocese of Albany has launched a large scale evangelization initiative around the theme “Kindness Matters.”  For more information
