Safe Environment

 

 

 

 

It is the policy of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany that any adult who has regular contact with children and youth must be trained and in compliance with all requirements.   Anyone who is not in compliance with Diocesan policy and who does not fulfill any of these requirements will not be allowed to work in any programs for children or youth in any parish in the diocese.

 

Requirements to Volunteer with Children/Youth/Vulnerable Adults:

  1. Attend a VIRTUS training session.  These sessions are held throughout the diocese and attendance at any site in the diocese meets this requirement.   It is recommended you pre-register for Virtus training at https://www.rcda.org/offices/safe-environment/virtus-program-and-training​.  You will receive your certificate at the Virtus training session.  It is your responsibility to provide the location you are volunteering at with a copy of your Virtus certificate.

  2. Return a completed background check form [Which includes permission to complete the background check]   For a copy of the Background Check form, [CLICK HERE].  Once the parish at which you wish to be a volunteer submits your name and email address to TruView, you will receive an email notification from TruView (Truview@backgroundorder.com).  Click on that link and follow the prompts.

 

3.   Sign the Standard Code of Conduct as a condition of your participation. [CLICK HERE] for a copy of the Code of Conduct form.

 

4.   Sign the Consent form portion [p.1] of the Social Media Use Policy [to sign and review the policy, [CLICK HERE].

5.   Wear a picture ID at all times when working with children/youth in any parish program. Please provide us with a copy of your NYS Driver’s License.

 

NOTE:  You must be in compliance with all of the above requirements before you will be allowed to work in any capacity with the children/youth of the parish. Thank you for your cooperation and compliance in protecting our children.
